A Creative Hub of Art, Culture & Community Impact
Rwanda is fast emerging as one of Africaās top tourist destinations, known for its breathtaking landscapes, rich history, and vibrant culture. But beyond the gorilla treks and scenic views, thereās a rising demand for fresh, interactive leisure experiencesāespecially among youth, creatives, tourists, and digital-savvy locals. Thatās where Rwandaās first Selfie Photo Museum steps in.
What is the Selfie Museum?
Set to launch in Kigali, the Selfie Museum will be a creative, immersive space where visitors step into colorful, mind-bending rooms filled with interactive art installations and optical illusions designed to be photographed and shared. Think vibrant backdrops, themed rooms, and artistic expressions that reflect both Rwandan culture and global trends.
But this is not just another Instagram spotāitās a mission-driven movement.
A Platform for Women Artists and Entrepreneurs
The Selfie Museum will serve as a launchpad for talented Rwandan women, especially artists and creatives, to showcase and sell their work, promote their studios, and engage directly with visitors. It will also house the āOffices of the women entrepeneursāāa multifunctional hub for various women-led initiatives:
Artists will exhibit their art, run interactive workshops, and inspire the next generation of creatives.
Fashion will sell clothing, lead styling workshops, and offer curated pop-ups within the space.
Hospitality will design unique, socially responsible tours for visitors who want to experience Rwanda with impact.
Communication will organize team-building days and community-focused events for businesses and organizations.
NGO will present her local grass roots organisation for those interested.
Visitors to the Selfie Museum become more than just spectatorsāthey become customers, collaborators, and supporters of Rwandaās growing creative economy.
More Than Fun: A Force for Good
This exciting venture is deeply tied to the Simone Smiles Foundation, which will use the museumās revenues to support children in Rwanda with school fees, clothing, and educational resources. The foundation will invest in women entrepreneurs, helping them turn their talents and passions into sustainable businesses, bringing smiles to families and communities.
Where Are We Now?
Weāre currently in the Location Research phase looking for the perfect spot in Kigali. We envision a house with multiple rooms, easily accessible and highly visible, where each space can transform into an engaging art room by day and an immersive āNight at the Museumā experience for lucky guests after 6:00 PM. This dual-use model blends art, hospitality, and empowerment in a way Rwanda hasnāt seen before.
Why It Will Work
With the rise of social media and experiential travel, the timing couldnāt be better. Kigali is ready for this fusion of culture, creativity, and cause. Add in strong partnerships, a smart marketing strategy, and the passion of local women leadersāand youāve got a recipe for lasting success.
Whether you're a tourist, a local, an artist, or just someone looking for a place that celebrates joy, style, and purposeāthe Selfie Photo Museum is for you.
Stay tuned. Kigaliās most Instagrammable, impactful, and inspiring destination is on the way.
